Meet our Artisans from Concepcion

Here's the truth: blogging is our weakness, so posts are quite infrequent. Tonight we came across a few photos from years ago that we didn't get around to sharing so we thought why not write a little blog post. We had the opportunity to visit this group of Maya-Mam women in Concepción, Guatemala way back when we started unikati & co. In case you're a visual person we're sharing photos first and the story is at the bottom.  At the beginning of 2012 the Guatemalan Ministry of the Economy began implementing a project called "Pacto Hambre Cero," Zero Hunger Pact, in consonance with the United Nations' worldwide Scaling Up Nutrition (SUN) movement. Chronic malnutrition affects more than a million children...

The vendors range from food, to wine, to jewelry and accessories. Also, check out our "for the guys" collection for great gift ideas. For the trendy dad: 1. Bow ties are always a good idea. Mulxiply | GiveGive

We're often asked how we discover the products that we carry. The most popular questions are if we've met all the artisans (we haven't), or if we've travelled to all these places (sadly, we haven't done that either). The truth is that there are many different ways that we find out about artisans, cooperatives, and brands doing good. Some are found during travels, some are discovered at shows like NYNow, and some are stumbled upon during our hours of surfing the web. Today we're super excited to introduce you to our latest partner, MULXIPLY, a product of GiveGive. We found out about MULXIPLY through a (fairly) recent article in Conscious magazine. Conscious is a magazine about culture, people, and community that make a...

Love the Skin You're In

I have the worst skin, and by worst I mean dermatitis, eczema, and psoriasis, depending on which dermatologist I see. Basically my skin is super sensitive and easily irritated. This means that I really care about what goes on my skin. Really everyone should. Our skin absorbs a huge amount of whatever we put on it. Most days I hate my skin, but I'm working super hard on loving it. These are a few all natural (and local) products that help me love the skin I'm in.  a. Sweet Leaf Bath Co Peppermint Beeswax Lip balm. I have tried more lip balms than I care to admit, but this one is hands down my favourite! It is so moisturizing and...
