Tomorrow marks the day that the fashion world changed....or at least that's the hope.
April 24, 2013, 1133 people were killed and over 2500 were injured when the Rana Plaza factory complex collapsed in Dhaka, Bangladesh. The images broadcast on the news that day and in the weeks that followed affected us greatly. It made us pause and think about where our clothing comes from. Although the seed of unikati & co was planted many years ago, this catastrophe was the catalyst for us, propelling unikati & co from idea into existence. Our purpose is to promote fair fashion, not fast fashion. You may pay a small premium for your purchase, but in turn you can rest assured knowing that the artisan who makes your piece is paid fairly and that they work in safe conditions, such as their own home or a small workshop in their community.
Buy less, choose well, make it last.
We believe in knowing where your clothing comes from. If you don't know, ask. Get the answers you need. Be informed.
In all aspects of our lives we strive to buy ethical and to buy fair. There is a revolution brewing. Will you join it?
