Marcelino Alvarado

Earlier this year we visited Marcelino Alvarado, in his small workshop in Antigua, Guatemala. Marcelino is the fourth generation of his family to craft sterling and jade jewelry. The jade slabs are cut by hand using special electric saws, then rounded and given their final shape on a grinding wheel, while the silver is worked entirely by hand.
