[Ethical] Father's Day Gift Guide

This upcoming weekend we're participating in The Toronto Fair Trade Show, along with a bunch of other fantastic fair trade vendors. It's a perfect opportunity to pick something up for Father's Day. We promise that there will be something for every kind of dad. We've picked out a few of our favourite items (but there are so many more items we wish we could feature). The vendors range from food, to wine, to jewelry and accessories. Also, check out our "for the guys" collection for great gift ideas.

For the trendy dad:

1. Bow ties are always a good idea. We have three varieties of bow ties left, made from handwoven fabric and naturally dyed with indigo. unikati & co $30

2. A fancy watch for that super special dad. We love the shape of this watch, as well as the beautiful phi wood with gold details. Mistura $495

3. For the trendy, yet utilitarian, dad the perfect wallet. Created from red toned leather, that becomes more beautiful with age, and available with red or green stitching, this wallet was handcrafted in a home workshop in Visoko, Bosnia, a town with a 500-year history of leather smithing. unikati & co $25

For the bearded dad:

4. Yes, we know, beards are all the rage these days, but before they became hip many of our dads were sporting them. To help your dad take care of his beard, we recommend the Bluegrass Beard Duo by Sweet Leaf Bath Co. $40

For the sporty dad:

5. What dad doesn't love football (or as we sometimes call it in North America, soccer)? This Canadian company creates fair trade certified balls for all sports. Social Conscience $29.99

For the foodie dad:

6, 7, 8. There will be quite a few fair trade food vendors selling everything from coffee (Camino $10-$17), spices (Arayuma $3- $6), and fantastic hand-carved salad servers made in Kenya as part of an income generating program in support of single women who are HIV positive (Salt Matters $20)
