Bosnia & Herzegovina

Between 1992-1995, over 100,000 people were killed and over 2 million people displaced in the war in Bosnia & Herzegovina. The war was characterized by ethnic cleansing, concentration camps, systemic mass rapes, the longest siege of a capital city in modern warfare (Sarajevo) and the genocide in Srebrenica where, in 1995, over 8,600 men and boys were massacred. Today the unemployment rate in the country hovers around 50%, and the country has yet to fully recover from the atrocities endured almost two decades ago.
