Shibori Square Scarf - Orange Sunset
Soft, lightweight, year-round cotton scarves with tassel finish. The geometric, chevron and tie-dye Shibori designs are made through traditional technique of resist-dyeing by twisting, stitching and binding fabric to create colorful artsy patterns. We love the square shape and large size, which can be worn many ways.
A little more about the art form: Shibori is the Japanese term for several methods of dyeing cloth with a pattern by stitching, binding, folding, twisting or compressing.
Size: 42" x 42"
Material: 100% cotton
The Story: India is estimated to have a third of the world’s poor. Almost one-third of India’s population lives below the international poverty line (living on less than $1.25US a day), while more than two-thirds live on less than $2.0US a day. Most of India's poor live in rural areas. Matr Boomie partners with disadvantaged artisan communities, grass-root level NGOs and artisan cooperatives in India, providing them with sustainable employment and fair wages to help improve their economic and social standings. They work with over 30 artisan groups and approximately 5,000 artisans in India. In addition to providing employment opportunities, Matr Boomie sponsors community development projects to improve services such as healthcare and education in these rural areas. Many of their products are created with recycled, reused, and natural materials, using natural processes. Matr Boomie is a member of the Fair Trade Federation.
